Text messages
Text message terms
MyndfulPal sends text messages for the clinics that use it: reminders and care team updates to patients, notices to the family members patients invite, and alerts to clinic staff. Patients and family members get them only if they choose texts. Here’s what they are, how often they come, and how to stop them or get help.

Who gets texts, and what they say
- Patients who choose texts get reminders to check in, take a blood pressure reading, check their blood sugar again or take their medicines; a note when they haven’t checked in for a couple of days; a note that their care team sent them a message; and their clinic’s invite to MyndfulPal.
- Family members a patient shares with, who choose texts, get their invite to MyndfulPal and a notice when the patient misses a daily check-in or, if the patient shares their medicines, a medicine.
- Clinic staff get alerts when one of their patients needs urgent attention, or is escalated to them, at the number they or their clinic’s admin entered.
Texts never include health details: no conditions, readings or medicines. They say what to do, sometimes with a link to sign in, and at most the clinic’s name. Texts to family never name the patient or the clinic. For example:
- “Time for your check-in. It takes about a minute.”
- “Your care team sent you a message.”
- “MyndfulPal: yesterday’s daily check-in wasn’t done. Open MyndfulPal to see more:” and a link
- “MyndfulPal: an urgent alert needs review.” and a link
How you agree to texts
Text is never the default, and nobody has to agree to texts to get care or use MyndfulPal: reminders and notices can come by app notification or email instead.
Patients
In the MyndfulPal app, a patient chooses Text as the way reminders reach them (on the Me screen, under Reminders, or when they first set up the app), enters their mobile number, and sees these words before they save:
By choosing texts, you agree to get reminders and care team updates from MyndfulPal at this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
A patient can also tell their nurse, when the clinic enrolls them, that the clinic may text them at their number. The nurse records that agreement, and the patient’s invite to MyndfulPal then comes by text as well as email.
Family members
A family member turns on texts in their own MyndfulPal view, where they see these words with their number, or tells the nurse who adds them, who records it:
Text me at my mobile number when a daily check-in or a medicine is missed. Up to 2 texts a day. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Clinic staff
Alerts by text are part of a staff member’s work at their clinic. They can turn text alerts off, or back on, on the Team page at any time.
MyndfulPal keeps a record of each patient’s and family member’s agreement: when it was given, the number, and the exact words they saw or were read.
How often, and what it costs
Message frequency varies. For patients, it depends on the reminder times they choose, their medicine schedule and how often their care team writes. Family members get up to 2 texts a day. Staff get a text when one of their patients needs urgent attention.
Msg & data rates may apply: your mobile carrier’s usual message and data rates apply to the texts you get and send. Ask your carrier about your plan.
How to stop texts
Reply STOP to any MyndfulPal text. You’ll get one text confirming it, and then no more texts from MyndfulPal at that number. You can also turn texts off in MyndfulPal: patients choose another way to get reminders on the Me screen, family members turn off texts in their notification settings, and staff turn off text alerts on the Team page.
After you stop texts, reminders and notices come by app notification or email instead. To get texts again, reply START to the same number, then choose texts again in MyndfulPal.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any MyndfulPal text for a text that says what these messages are and how to stop them. For questions about MyndfulPal’s texts, email allison@myndfulpal.com. Please leave out health details.
MyndfulPal doesn’t read other replies to its texts. For anything about your care, message your care team in the app or call your clinic. MyndfulPal is not an emergency service: in an emergency, call 911. If you’re thinking about suicide, or you’re worried about someone, call or text 988.
Delivery
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. A text can be late or never arrive, for example when a phone is off or out of coverage, so don’t rely on texts alone: open MyndfulPal to see what’s due.
Texts aren’t encrypted end to end, so your phone company could read them. That’s why they never include health details.
Your number and your privacy
MyndfulPal uses your mobile number only to send you the texts these terms describe. Phone numbers, text opt-in data and consent are never sold, and never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Our privacy policy explains how MyndfulPal handles information.
